In 2006, an estimated 53.3 million surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in ambulatory surgery centers. With more invasive diagnostic and surgical procedures being performed in outpatient settings, an increase in patients with unrecognized infectious diseases is being seen. This fast paced, high volume environment provides unique challenges and opportunities for infection control and prevention. To help you interpret the new regulatory requirements and prepare of the survey, Medline is introducing the CMS Survey Readiness Program for Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
