Spring fever is in full force and has many of us thinking about warmer weather and getting outside after a long winter. Getting outdoors to walk or ride a bike may be on your list of goals. Participating in self-care, such as exercise, eating healthier, and getting more rest are all popular ideas, but what about understanding more about your own personal health? What do you know about Diabetes? Did you know nearly 1 out of 4 Americans has Diabetes?
What ways can you help prevent from getting Diabetes?
Unfortunately, not all cases of diabetes are preventable. Studies show consistent exercise, healthy nutritional habits, and getting regular check-ups with a healthcare provider may be the first steps to the recognition and prevention of diabetes. You may wonder why is it important to prevent diabetes? Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, nerve damage, and other health complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, diabetes is a risk factor for development of a severe case of Covid-19.
