Course Description

This course will assist the certified nursing assistant when working with residents on how to recognize abnormal behaviors, understand that there are alternative approaches to antipsychotic drug therapy, and learn techniques to use to in different resident behavior scenarios. This course will add to your knowledge, your problem solving ability and contribute to the overall well-being of the residents to whom you provide care.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Define what an antipsychotic drug is
  • Recognize abnormal behaviors associated with antipsychotic drug therapy
  • Understand the role of the CNA in reduction of antipsychotic drug use
  • List alternative approaches to antipsychotics through the use of behavioral modifications and/or interventions
Intended Audience

This course is intended for certified nursing assistants and healthcare assistants.

Upon course completion, this course can be submitted as 1.00 CEU towards the 10 CEU requirement for recertification set forth by the AMCA Certification Board.
