In general, there are basic principles that apply to most wounds. However, some patient populations can change the way wounds are treated or, at the very least, the way wounds are looked at. Some of these populations include the pediatric patient, the burn patient, the obese or bariatric patient, and finally the cancer patient where the goal is not always wound healing.
