Course Description

Understand the cost of Pressure Injuries (PI) in addition to the causes, risk factors, interventions and prevention strategies. The National Pressure Injury Advisory Program (NPIAP) guidelines for staging a PI are also presented, including examples to help learners stage a pressure injury.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
  • Understand the epidemiology of a pressure injury
  • Identify measures to prevent pressure injuries
  • Recognize key strategies to a successful Pressure Injury Prevention Program

Course Author

This course was developed as part of Medline’s Global Health Initiative and is an extension of an education collaboration in Argentina between local nurses in Salta, Nurses Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC), and the Corporate Social Responsibility team at Medline.
