Infection prevention is becoming an increasingly important issue in the operating room. Safe patient outcomes are paramount within healthcare organizations, and it is important to take every measure possible to ensure minimize the risk of infection. Alternatively, it is also important for healthcare providers to protect themselves from transmission of disease. Simple things, such as wearing appropriate scrubs, selecting appropriate gowns, gloves, and drapes, and adhering to sterile technique can protect both the patient and healthcare personnel caring for the patient. This course is designed to help educate nurses on infection risks, and measures that can be taken to protect patients and nurses themselves.
