Course Description

The skin is the largest organ of the body. It has many roles. From the thinnest skin, around the eyes, to the thickest skin, on the hands and soles of the feet, skin provides protection as a defense barrier against bacteria, microorganisms and fungal spores.

The skin is a tough organ, but you must take care of it. Without proper care, skin is at risk of breakdown and infection. We want our skin as healthy and intact as possible.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Review the importance of skin
  • Understand how to properly care for skin
  • Identify important words and concepts related to skin care and possible complications
Intended Audience

This course is designed to give Healthcare Assistants, including CNAs, Home Health Aids, and Healthcare Techs, a general understanding of skin and the importance of proper skin care.
