Course Description

Start with the basics for skin health by reviewing the anatomy of the skin and discovering what can put it at risk to develop an injury or a wound. Gain knowledge of the layers of the skin, function of the skin, factors that affect the skin condition and healing process. Discover a great number of wounds you may encounter, how to differentiate them, and some of the treatments that may be used.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
  • Learn about healthy skin and it's function
  • Review factors that affect the skin
  • Discuss common types of wounds
  • Identify different stages of Pressure Injury
  • Examine common types of wounds

Course Author

This course was developed as part of Medline’s Global Health Initiative and is an extension of an education collaboration in Argentina between local nurses in Salta, Nurses Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC), and the Corporate Social Responsibility team at Medline.
