Difficult to heal wounds are challenging. When conventional care has been unsuccessful in providing the expected healing outcome, the use of adjunct treatment is an option. In this course, hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) will be discussed in depth along with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), electronic stimulation (E-Stim) and ultrasound as treatment options for non-healing wounds.
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Define wound healing.
- Define HBO, NPWT, E-Stim, and Ultrasound as used in wound therapy.
- List the appropriate diagnosis currently approved for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- List indications and contraindications and potential side effects when using hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO).
- Describe and list indications for the use of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), electronic stimulation, and ultrasound in wound management strategies
This course is intended for nurses.
