Long-term care is a term that encompasses any service that supports the personal, and sometimes medical, care needs for everyday life over an extended period of time. Those needing assistance with activities of daily living, or ADLs such as bathing, dressing, toileting or incontinence, mobility, and eating. Additionally, support can encompass housework, money management, medication management, meal preparation and clean-up, shopping, facilitating telephone calls, and responding to emergencies. The services provided help people live as independently and safely as possible.
