Course Description
Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is a method of delivering oxygen and ventilatory support via a mask without the need for an invasive procedure, such as intubation. To effectively manage patients requiring NIV, it is crucial for clinicians to understand and apply current care standards.
Learning Objective
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Recognize when and how to use NIV
- Explain ways to deliver NIV including the weaning process
- Identify issues related to NIV
- Recall the importance of humidification when using NIV
- Describe the use of NIV in specialty populations
