In the field of nursing continuing education, “CE” and “CEU” are two different terms. “CE” stands for Continuing Education and is typically associated with a contact hour, which represents one hour of structured learning content. On the other hand, “CEU” stands for Continuing Education Unit. One CEU is equivalent to 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. For instance, if you have completed 20 contact hours, it would equate to 2 CEUs; 25 contact hours would be 2.5 CEUs, and 200 contact hours would be equal to 20 CEUs.

If your CE credits are not appearing on your transcript, it may be due to incomplete license information in your Medline University account. Here's how you can rectify this:

  1. Navigate to the "Profile" tab in your Medline University account.
  2. Ensure that you have entered your license information. If not, click on "Add" or "Manage" to complete the License section.
  3. Make sure to complete all fields. For instance, the "Discipline" field must be filled with "Registered Nurse" or an equivalent term to earn Nursing CE credits.

  3. In the resulting popup window, make the appropriate selections according to your desired result. For more options, click on "Show Additional Options", then click "Continue".

Scholar Program FAQ

The Medline University Scholar Program empowers healthcare staff through a wide range of courses. Participants can expand their knowledge, achieve distinction, and earn recognition badges by completing designated courses in valuable clinical categories.

The program is open to all healthcare staff, including, but not limited to:

  • Nurses
  • Nursing assistants
  • Nursing home administrators
  • Case managers
  • Dietitians
  • Nutritionists
  • Physical therapists
  • Medical equipment preparers
  • Central sterile technicians
  • Central processing technicians
  • Sterile processing technicians

To get started:

  1. Explore the available badges and choose those you’d like to achieve.
  2. Take each required course for the badge(s) you want to earn.
  3. During this process, be sure to create or log in using your hStream ID when prompted.

An hStream ID is a unique identifier needed to connect your community account activity with your activity in the learning management system, including the Scholar program. When creating an hStream ID, if you do not receive a confirmation code to verify your account, it may be because your company email is not safe listed. In that case, use a personal email to create your hStream ID. To complete any Scholar program courses, you must create an hStream ID. This ID is different from the user ID and password you use to log in to take access courses. An hStream ID and password are required for course completion and badge achievement. Once you create an hStream ID, you won't need to make another for future badge courses.

Benefits include:

  • Expanding your knowledge
  • Achieving distinction
  • Earning recognition badges
  • Sharing your earned badges with your professional network

The program offers a wide range of courses in valuable clinical categories. Check out the available badges here.
