Modern medicine offers new opportunities to extend life. However, the decision to use extreme life-saving measures is a personal one for each patient. These decisions are often documented in an advance directive. This course explains what an advance directive is and highlights the healthcare professional’s role in honoring a patient’s wishes. This course provides nurses and healthcare providers with an understanding of end-of-life challenges and advance directives.
