Course Description
To understand the concepts of a wound and wound healing, we must start by understanding the skin’s structure and renewal process. Skincare and pressure injury prevention must be grounded in a comprehensive knowledge base of the structure and functions of the skin.
Learning Objective
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

Identify at least 3 functions of the skin.

Describe how the skin integrates with immune, neurological, endocrine and other systems.

Explain 2 differences between infant and geriatric skin.

Demonstrate an understanding of common skin disorders.

Brenda has over 25 years of clinical experience in nursing practice and is a certified nurse educator. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice along with a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on education.
