Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide nurses with an understanding of good communication among peers in a healthcare environment and how to foster this communication to enhance collaborative working relationships.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Compare the effectiveness of communicating in an aggressive manner versus communicating in an assertive manner
- Summarize the collaborative process along with techniques that can be used to develop a collaborative relationship
- Recognize techniques that are helpful in developing an assertive communication style
- Identify techniques that can be used to help reduce interdepartmental conflicts
- Explain the characteristics of defensive behavior and ways that defensive behavior can be handled effectively
- Describe effective approaches to communicating in crisis situations
