Course Description

Wound assessment is more than simply identifying or classifying the wound itself. Assessing the factors that can potentially affect wound healing will help you understand how best to facilitate treatment plans and manage expectations for both the patient and the caregivers.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify diseases that affect wound closure
  • Discuss aging skin and wound healing
  • Identify the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect wound closure
  • Review the role of nutrition in wound healing
  • Explore barriers to adhering to a plan of care

Dionie has a master’s in nursing. She is an enterostomal therapy nurse as well as certified in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing. 

Brenda has over 20 years of clinical experience in nursing practice and is a certified nurse educator. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice along with a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on education.
