Course Description

Proper hydration is key in the treatment and prevention of Urinary Tract Infections, or UTIs. This course will provide the healthcare professional with a review of urinary tract infections and nutrition’s impact along with an overview of alternative dietary treatment modalities.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Examine the factors contributing to urinary tract infections and their impact on older adults
  • Identify current UTI treatments and their associated problems
  • Recognize the role of adequate hydration for UTI prevention and treatment

Mary Ellen Posthauer is an award-winning dietitian, consultant for MEP Healthcare Dietary Services, published author, and member of the Purdue University Hall of Fame and Department of Foods and Nutrition. Mary Ellen held positions on numerous boards and panels including the past president of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel.

Brenda is a certified nursed educator and has 18 years of clinical experience in nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on education.
